Create An Impressive Charcuterie Board

Let us guide you on how to make the ultimate charcuterie board for a family meal or a large gathering. The process is the same no matter what the size.

To start with here’s a few fundamentals into making it appealing, vibrant and enticing. We love to see how people create their own boards but most of all how our customers use our products. Please tag us on your social media photos with @Cureights

Alternative Additions

Whilst it may be called a ‘Charcuterie Board’, you don’t want to make this a meat fest! Bring some dynamism to your creation by adding the other ingredients that people love. Nobody is ever going to thank you for adding a farmers field of celery. Although a mixture of grapes, cheese, bread and crispy bits. Let’s not take the phrase ‘Charcuterie Board’ out of context though and add ‘sweets and candy’ like our American friends do!

Cheese, fruit, bread, pickles & nuts

Texture

Using various textures you are going to break up the way the board appears. Nobody wants to see a board that is filled with the same thing. Or where different items appear the same. Bring intrigue and create something dynamic. Fold some into quarters and place on skewers, use a few slices of salami to create a flower or a rose. Get creative. Who ever said not to play with food was a fool!

smooth, rough, wavy, shiny or matte

Flavour Profiles

Bring a wealth of different flavours to the mix here. Don’t be afraid to mix things up by having contrasting flavour profiles occurring. Mixing in a spicy coppa with a tart cornichon or a creamy brie. You could even warm your camembert and dip your meats in just like a fondue. The rule is that there really isn’t any rules! Just don’t go mixing savoury with sweet.

Colour

Ensure your board has a range of contrasting colours to make peoples mouths water with excitement. Even just scattering a few herb leaves over the top at the end will add a level of vibrancy and appeal. Rainbow food is attractive and offsetting the meat with fresh fruit is a great idea. Bold colours work well.

Arranging It All

If you have the time then playing about with how it will all sit together is pretty cool. It’s a bit of mindfulness to be completely honest with you and can be fairly de-stressing. Placing items of complete opposition next to each other is a good idea, placing all the meat together and the cheese together will not give you the effect you’re looking for. Let’s place some Chipotle Coppa next to some Italian Taleggio is a great contrast and a good pairing.

Board Choices

Nobody ever said a Charcuterie Board had to be served on a board. Get as creative as you like as long as the item you’re choosing to serve from is clean and won’t taint the items on it. A great alternative to a board are slates, the darker colour makes the meat really pop!
